I have a little girl who is just over a year old. Everyone keeps telling me that, because she's cutting teeth now, it's time for her to switch from baby foods to solids. How can I do this? Every time I try to give her something that is thicker than the baby foods she's used to, she chokes on it and vomits.

Poor baby! Maybe you should try gradually thickening the baby food by adding thicker versions of the same food into it. Also, they make 'puffs' for babies that basically melt in your mouth as soon as they hit your tongue. Something like this might be a good transitional finger food for her.
