#11699 Bad Scar Pain

Posted Isla on 04 November 2013 - 07:27 AM

I don't know why, but yesterday my c-section scar was hurting really badly.  It never hurt that much during my second pregnancy; it felt almost like I was recovering again.  It scared me enough to call my doctor, but in the absence of other symptoms and given that I'm only 25 weeks, he didn't think it was anything to really be concerned with, which was a relief.  I'm still a little tender this morning but much better, thank goodness.

#61207 Explaining miscarriage to a six year-old

Posted Kasey on 04 December 2015 - 01:18 AM

My six year-old son knew that I was pregnant. After recently miscarrying, I find myself at a loss for how to explain this to him. Any suggestions or advice? Has anyone been through this before?

#11520 He brings me flowers

Posted megsforreal on 28 October 2013 - 04:42 PM

My little guy is who I mean. If there are flowers anywhere he goes, he will find them and pick some and bring me a grubby, tiny bouquet. I have a whole collection of tiny vases to put his offerings in. Does anything warm a mama's heart more?

#12100 school lunches

Posted Deetta on 13 November 2013 - 11:57 AM

Has anyone attended any of the holiday lunches that some schools do where family and close friends can attend to a lunch with your child? I just got back from one and besides not giving at least adults a plastic knife to cut the meat with everything was totally bland. They did not even provide us with salt and pepper. :o

I was wondering if it was an adhesion, based on what you said. I'm glad you didn't have any further issues. I would definitely have been scared to feel that in the middle of a pregnancy. And congratulations on your VBAC!

#11937 persistent - good or bad?

Posted Deetta on 11 November 2013 - 09:22 AM

We went out to dinner last night as a family get together and the food was great. The problem was the waiter. I mean I like it when they come to check on the food but this guy would not back off. In the time it took us to order and eat he was at the table over 10 times. What is up with that?

#12165 Fostering for how long?

Posted Grays-hidden on 13 November 2013 - 10:36 PM

I have never fostered myself but I am curious about it. How long do you normally foster a child for? Can you start for a short time span and then ask for an extension if you want to foster a child longer?

#10059 Skin is so dry

Posted SarahJ on 18 September 2013 - 10:08 AM

I am allergic to a lot of the lotions and the ones that are okay for my skin are so expensive. My skin gets extremely dry, especially in the winter. What is something homeopathic I can put on my skin? My hands are the worst and they get cracked really bad.

#12160 6 Year Old Girl Gift

Posted babyabs on 13 November 2013 - 10:07 PM

What are 6-year old girls into these days? I'm trying to think of a present for one of my niece's since I'll be doing my Christmas shopping soon. I know that she likes unicorns and Pokemon. I am crafty and was thinking of making her a unicorn hat, but I wasn't sure. Or perhaps a Furby.

#11789 CMA's (Country Music Awards)

Posted mickie on 07 November 2013 - 07:35 AM

Did anyone watch the CMA's last night? Anything shocking? I have to say that I could watch Luke Bryan shake it each and every day! I just love that man. My hubby always wants to turn the channel when he comes on.

#60377 Not interested in sippy cup

Posted Nicky on 01 December 2015 - 07:51 PM

I have a one year old who's currently showing zero interest in switching from a bottle to a sippy cup. She has teeth coming in now so I know it's time to make the switch. How am I supposed to do this when she adamantly refuses the sippy, though???

#12163 Duck Dynasty Family

Posted babyabs on 13 November 2013 - 10:15 PM

I know that not everyone is a fan of Duck Dynasty, but I'm obsessed. I just want to say that they are very inspirational. They are a family of faith and they spend quality time together, even when running a business. It makes me want to spend more quality time with my family and have fun.

#12114 Heartburn issues

Posted amee on 13 November 2013 - 01:43 PM

I know a friend who was not able to take anything over the counter for heartburn and recently I read that things like Tums do not work as good as they did years ago. Have they changed the way they make these or what? Can you get a prescription for heartburn if you are pregnant?

#11842 Bullying and the NFL

Posted steph5 on 08 November 2013 - 07:32 AM

Anyone see the news about bullying and hazing in the NFL? It’s pretty sad that these grown men (or one) is acting in a way that makes another player walk out on the team. I’m talking about the Miami Dolphins and Richie Incognito. I’m sure there are other players that think it is okay to bully other teammates. What sickens me even more is that his teammates are standing behind him. He is a great guy, a big old teddy bear. Really? If what Jonathon Martin is saying is true, Incognito is anything but a great guy. I get it though, it’s the NFL and rookies are supposed to be hazed right? They are supposed to pay for dinners. They are supposed to carry the veteran’s player’s helmets (I saw this first hand at the Steelers training camp). That is all in good fun. Racial slurs and talking about what you are going to do to someone’s sister is not all in good fun.

I do have a point to this whole long speech. What is the NFL teaching our kids? I for one know that many younger boys and girls look up to these players. We have seen many bad things throughout the years; even from the team I support (Big Ben and his problems). Sure there are a lot of great players and great role models on the teams. Maybe they need to step up and stop this bad behavior.

I am glad the Dolphins suspended Incognito. I hope it the evidence is there that he never plays for another NFL team again. Send a message to other players and other bullies! If the NFL won’t stand for it we won’t stand for it. Bullying is such an epidemic right now. Kids are killing themselves because they don’t know how to get it to stop.

#7977 recipe for boys

Posted Emma on 18 July 2013 - 02:07 PM

I have four daughters and now I really want a son. The ovulation calender doesn't work for me because I have always had irregular periods. Does anyone know any 'home remedies' for making a baby boy? I'm willing to try anything.

#1513 Can you spell?

Posted flowerchild on 30 December 2012 - 12:14 PM

I am in a profession where I see many children on a daily basis.  The names given some of these children make me shake my head and wonder if the parents are literate.  I remember one named Colorada, one named MyKenzie, one named Makalaya and many others that I thought strange.  I really wanted to ask the parents, "can you spell, or did you mean to do this?"

#11558 Irritating coworkers

Posted katei on 29 October 2013 - 08:32 AM

There is nothing worse than going to a job where you have to deal with irritating coworkers. It wouldn't be so bad if they were not in my department but they are. I can't seem to get away from them. I have even closed my door but they still irritate me.
