When choosing a name for your little one, did you decide to go with a family name or did you opt to choose something original?

Do you mean surname? Yes of course we use our family name for our kid's surname. For the first name we try to choose something original and different, but not to the point that his friend will make fun of his name.

We thought about family names but then we were concerned about certain family members being upset if we didn't honor their name. So we went with names that were completely unrelated to any family!

We're talking about that right now.  His family are going to blow a gasket when they learn we aren't going to go with the traditional family name for the first born.
